Ancient Roman Clothing

Roman men usually wore only 2 pieces the tunica and the toga. The tunica was a short sleeves. The toga was mostly used for public display to the people. However the tunica was worn by many people within the comforts of their homes. The tunic worn by men was all made of white wool and expensive linen while the poor people would have theirs if whatever fabric was available. The togas were also worn by women. However he woman were required to wear the looser togas. Foot wear was usually 2 different types. The sandals were strapped to the foot. The soleae was also a type of shoe but this shoe was completely enclosed. The children wore something called bulla which is a type of necklace to protect them from evil. they presented the necklace from birth and had to wear it until the boy became a man and until the girl got married
